The associate editor should have knowledge of current theoretical debates in urban, national, and transnational anthropology; a deep understanding of ethnographic research; and a commitment to promoting inclusivity in the operation, staffing, and output of academic publishing. They should also have knowledge of fields adjacent to urban anthropology, such as geography, urban studies, Latinx studies, Black studies, or decolonial studies. Finally, the associate editor should be a prompt and clear communicator, well-organized, comfortable working as part of a team, and prepared to work with the journal’s online manuscript management system. Previous engagement with SUNTA and/or City & Society, as well as previous experience editing academic manuscripts, is desirable but not necessary. BIPOC and members of other underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply. There is a stipend associated with this position.
